Am 18. März 2016 vereinbarte die EU mit der Türkei den sog. EU-Türkei Deal. Das erste Abkommen, welches mit einem sog. „sicheren Drittstaat“ verabschiedet wurde, um die Deportation von people on the move für Behörden und Frontex zu erleichtern. Seit dem ist viel passiert und an Europas Grenzen kamen in den letzten 10 Jahren über 32.000 Menschen auf ihrer Flucht ums Leben. Die politische Agenda europäischer Regierungen ist klar und wird seit dem auch mit weiteren Deals manifestiert: Abschottung.
Doch auch wenn die unmenschliche Politik rechts-konservativer Parteien durch die GEAS-Reform manifestiert wird, so sollte die Hoffnung auf eine andere Realität niemals begraben werben. Es lohnt sich die kleinen Erfolge einer antirassistischen, transnationalen Bewegung, die sich für Bewegungsfreiheit und Menschenrechte einsetzt anzuschauen. Denn auch wenn der um sich greifende Autoritarismus Mensch von Zeit zu Zeit verzweifeln lässt, so sind die kleinen Siege dieser Bewegung nicht irrelevant. Im Gegenteil. Das Wissen über die verschiedensten Formen der praktischen Solidarität an den Orten und Grenzen Europas kann die Grundlage für neue emanzipatorische Strukturen und Bewegungen sein.
In dem Vortrag geht es um die Auswirkungen des EU-Türkei-Deals und wie er eine Grundlage für die unmenschliche Politik der Festung Europa heute ist. Der Hauptfokus liegt jedoch auf den unterschiedlichsten Formen von praktischer Solidarität, die Handlungspotentiale für Gruppen und Bewegungen aufzeigt.

On March 18, 2016, the EU agreed the so-called EU-Turkey Deal with Turkey. This was the first agreement to be approved with a so-called “safe third country” in order to facilitate the deportation of people on the move for authorities and Frontex. A lot has happened since then, and over the past 10 years, more than 32,000 people have lost their lives fleeing to European borders. The political agenda of European governments is clear and has been manifested in further deals since then: isolation.
But even if the inhumane policies of right-wing conservative parties are manifested in the GEAS reform, hope for a different reality should never be lost. It is worth looking at the modest successes of an anti-racist, transnational movement that fights for freedom of movement and human rights. Even if the increasing authoritarianism causes people to lose hope from time to time, the small successes of this movement are not irrelevant. On the contrary, knowledge about the various forms of practical solidarity in different places and at different borders in Europe can be the basis for new emancipatory structures and movements.
The lecture will focus on the impact of the EU-Turkey deal and how it forms the basis for the inhumane policies of Fortress Europe today. However, the main focus will be on the diverse forms of practical solidarity that demonstrate the potential for action by groups and movements.
